Sedation Dentistry Options Offered at Spring Complete Care Dentistry
Conscious Oral Sedation
This type of sedation works well for patients who suffer from moderate to severe anxiety and involves taking medication by mouth in the form of a pill about an hour before your appointment. By the time you reach our office, you’ll already be relaxed for your scheduled dental treatment. Like nitrous oxide, you will be relaxed, but remain awake during your procedure. It’s a more potent form of sedation so you’ll likely feel sleepier than you would with nitrous oxide. Some patients even fall asleep during their procedure! The effects last longer, around 4 – 5 hours, so be sure to have someone to drive you to and from your appointment. For people who have a fear of dental procedures, conscious sedation is a fantastic option.
