Removable Dental Prostheses in Spring TX

For people who have missing teeth due to oral health issues like gum disease, tooth decay, or an injury, missing teeth can make daily activities difficult and negatively impact your quality of life.
From no longer feeling confident when speaking and smiling, avoiding certain foods because they are difficult to chew, to even having difficulty saying certain words.
It’s a simple fact that having empty spaces where teeth should be can affect your everyday life…..
Missing teeth can also negatively impact your self-confidence. When you have missing teeth your overall facial structure, including the cheeks and lips, will begin to change causing you to appear older than you are.
Luckily, there is a simple, affordable solution to fill in those unwanted gaps …. enhancing your smile and overall appearance!
That solution is complete or partial dentures. Whether you’re missing one or multiple teeth, dentures can be a fantastic option.
Get your smile back.
Dentures (false teeth) don’t just replace missing teeth. While that is the main benefit, dentures also restore your facial structure, giving you a more youthful appearance. Additionally, they restore your mouth to full functionality allowing you to eat and speak easily.
While millions of people have improved their overall quality of life and self-confidence with dentures, they have also gotten a bad reputation in the past for looking and feeling like fake, plastic teeth with rigid plates and thick “plasticky” gums. Fortunately, times have changed. Today’s modern dentures are nothing like the “chompers” your grandparents had.
With today’s technology and high-tech resins, modern dentures are created to look and feel natural. New advancements in dentistry allow dentures to be custom designed and fabricated to match the shape of your smile, closely resembling your natural teeth and surrounding gum tissue. This results in an amazing fit and appearance.
Custom fabricated dentures are nearly undetectable
Dentures are composed of durable acrylic resin and sometimes porcelain. At Spring Complete Care Dentistry, we use the latest, highest quality dental materials, ensuring the most beautiful, natural-looking smiles and long-lasting results.
There are 2 types of dentures. Complete dentures and partial dentures.
Complete dentures are used to replace teeth when all of your upper or lower teeth are missing. The custom-made replacement teeth are fitted into an acrylic base that matches your natural gum tissue. They fit snugly in your mouth to sit directly over the gums and are normally held in place with a denture adhesive. Some patients only wear one or the other, while other patients wear both.
Partial dentures are used when you are missing several teeth in a row, but some of your natural teeth remain and are in good shape. They are sometimes referred to as bridges because they “bridge” a gap in your mouth. With partials, one or more replacement teeth are attached to a gum-colored acrylic base and connectors are used to clip them on to the surrounding teeth. This helps keep them securely in place. Partial dentures also prevent your other teeth from shifting and changing positions.
What is the process of getting dentures?
The process of getting dentures requires several appointments, usually over 4 – 6 weeks from start to finish. Treatment plans will vary from person to person, but modern technology makes this process easier and more convenient than ever before.
Here are the most important things you need to know before getting dentures.
Your Exam:
We’ll start with a thorough exam, including X-rays, to determine what type of dentures are right for you.
Preparing your mouth:
In many cases, tooth extractions will be necessary. If teeth need to be extracted before getting your new dentures, you will never be without teeth. You will be fitted with a temporary denture to wear for a few weeks while your mouth is healing.
Making your dentures:
Dr. Tan will begin designing your new smile by taking measurements of your mouth and a mold of your teeth to ensure your new dentures will fit perfectly. We’ll discuss important elements like the size, shape, and shade of your new teeth.
Fitting your dentures:
Once your new dentures are ready, you’ll come into our office and Dr. Tan will make any adjustments needed to ensure the best possible fit and the most natural smile. You’ll be leaving our office ready to show off your brand new smile!
Making the transition to dentures may feel strange at first and take some time getting used to. It’s normal for patients to experience some soreness and possible speech and chewing challenges as your mouth and muscles get used to the new dentures.
Dentures are a durable dental appliance. With proper care, they are a safe, long-term solution that will last for many years. However, over time, your mouth may change shape gradually, which may cause your dentures to feel loose or uncomfortable. In this case, it may be necessary to have your dentures reshaped and refitted to make adjustments to accommodate changes in your gum line.
